A Majority Government!

That it happens to be a Conservative majority government is irrelevant also relevant.

What matters today is that we veteran volunteers now have a strong and stable government to lobby, a government that does not have to look over its shoulders at the possibility that opposition parties might play politics over an issue that is fundamentally not political. It's about our military, the pride and traditional esprit-de-corps of our forces and the fact that we would like to see the Queen of Canada made manifest once again within her own Navy and Air Force in advance of next year's Diamond Jubilee.

So let's get on with the campaign and make one final push to restoring the Royal Canadian Navy and Royal Canadian Air Force!

  1. The future is starting to look a lot better for the Canadian Armed Forces. I'm very happy it turned out to be a Conservative majority government!

  2. I suppose the next step is to see if Peter McKay will be reappointed as Minister of Defence. If for some reason he is not we will have to arrange a letter writing campaign to his successor. The Diamond Jubilee is a good angle for the return of the "Royal" titles.

  3. I disagree. The fact that it is a Conservative majority government is highly relevant. The Liberals have been hostile to the monarchy since the anti-British days of Pearson and his ilk and it was their anti-British bias that motivated them to create the whole unification mess. Call me cynical, but I doubt the Liberals would be the ones to fix this.

As for the new MND, I hope for the sake of the campaign that it is not McKay as he has shown little interest in the cause. We would be better off with Laurie Hawn or Jason Kenney. I have spoken to Kenney about this and he very sympathetic to our aims.

  4. If we are going to make this happen its now or never. If you served in the Old RCN or RCAF talk to your friends have them sign the petition. If you served in the unified Canadain Forces as I did and wanted to go back to the old system talk to your friends and sign on. I agree that Peter McKay should go as MND. Jason Kenney should be given his Kick at the Can so to speak. Good Luck on your efforts Thomas
